You are cordially invited to attend a two-day conference on February 19th & 20th for teachers, coaches, teacher leaders and administrators that use the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) curriculum.

As an attendee you will participate in sessions led by CMP authors, experienced CMP teachers, CMP leaders, and administrators. Videos, student work, and other artifacts from CMP classrooms will be used to stimulate discussions on:

 

¥  Increasing student learning

¥  Effective ways of teaching

¥  Assessment and grading

¥  Implementation, pacing, and management

¥  English language learners and special needs students

¥  Technology

¥  Productive classroom discourse

¥  Specific mathematical topics such as algebra, fractions, proportional reasoningÉ

¥  Differentiated Instruction in CMP classrooms

¥  Coaching in a CMP classroom

¥  Developing CMP teacher leaders

 

Schedule

The conference will convene at 7:30 A.M. on Friday with check-in and a continental breakfast. The welcome, introductions, and overview will begin at 8:00. Both days will include plenary presentations and small breakout sessions with a number of choices for each time slot. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided each day. There will be a reception on Friday beginning at 5 P.M. with hors dÕoeuvres and fabulous prizes. The conference will adjourn at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 20. An Agenda can be found here.

Confirmation

Upon receipt of your application and payment, we will send you a confirmation that will include a map. If you do not receive a reply from us, please contact us well before the conference. Please do not make flight reservations until you have received your confirmation. Enrollment is limited and attendance is not guaranteed without receipt of your confirmation.

Cancellation Policy

No refunds can be made after January 8, 2010. You may substitute another person in your place. Please notify us as soon as possible of any substitutions by e-mailing Judith Miller at miller@math.msu.edu.

Parking

Parking will be available at the ramp adjacent to the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at a daily rate of $5. Parking is complimentary for overnight guests.

 

Air Travel
     The Lansing community is served by a couple of airlines at the Capital Region International Airport. Their web site is www.flylansing.com. The cost of a taxi from the airport to your hotel will be about $25. You may also want to inquire as to whether your hotel provides a shuttle.
     The Marriott and Kellogg hotels provide free shuttle service to and from the Lansing airport for its guests. Call the hotel upon your arrival for this serviceÐcourtesy phones are located in the Baggage Claim area.
     It is also possible, and usually cheaper, to fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport and take a shuttle from the Airport to the Marriott at University Place in downtown East Lansing for $50 round trip.      Flying in and out of Flint or Grand Rapids is also an option, but youÕll need to rent a car.
