# Digital Math Inscriptions Project

## Enhancing Middle Grades Students' Capacity to Develop and Communicate Their Mathematical Understanding of Big Ideas Using Digital Inscriptional Resources

Using the *Connected Mathematics* curriculum materials, Michigan State University and The Concord Consortium are developing and testing a digital collaborative environment where students have access to embedded digital tools to solve problems.

A major goal of this project is to help students deepen and make visible their understanding of mathematics.

We will report on how:

- evidence of student thinking is made visible through the use of Digital Inscriptional Resources
- student inscriptions are registered, talked about, and manipulated in collaborative settings, and
- students’ conceptual growth of big mathematical ideas grows over time.
