Karrie Tufts currently teaches sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Connected Math Project (CMP) in Traverse City, Michigan. She was a pilot teacher for CMP1, 2, 3, and worked on the assessment team for CMP3. Karrie works nationally in professional development and won the Presidential Award for Elementary Mathematics in 2000. That same year she began working with Project Zero at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. The focus for that work centers around making thinking visible while using thinking routines to deepen understanding and is a perfect fit with CMP. Karrie is in awe of the brilliance of the authors and continues to deepen her understanding of mathematics each year with this program.
