Jane Porath Presented at the 2016 Digging Deeper into CMP Workshop.
Jane Porath has been teaching secondary mathematics for 19 years. She is currently an 8th grade mathematics teacher at Traverse City East Middle School. She has been involved professionally with the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) for most of her career. She has piloted the curriculum, worked on the development of the assessments for CMP3 and provided professional development around the country to teachers implementing the curriculum. Through this work, she has focused extensively on pedagogy and helping students make sense of mathematics. In 2013, Jane was selected as a state finalist for the Presidential Award of Excellence of Mathematics and Science Teaching. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). She served on the Executive Board for the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) and currently serves as the Publications Director.
