Air Travel

The Lansing community is served by a couple of airlines at the Capital Region International Airport. You can expect the cost of a taxi from the airport to your hotel to run about $25. You may also want to inquire as to whether your hotel provides a shuttle.

The Kellogg and Marriott Hotels offer a free shuttle service to and from the Lansing airport for their guests. Call the hotel upon your arrival for this service. Courtesy phones are located in the Baggage Claim area.

It is also possible, and usually less expensive, to fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport and take a shuttle from the Airport to the Marriott at University Place in downtown East Lansing for $50 round trip. The Marriott is about a 17 minute walk from the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. See Michigan Flyer or call 888.643.5937 for schedules.

Flying in and out of Flint or Grand Rapids is also an option, but you will need to rent a car.

CMP Carnival

CMP Carnival

The CMP carnival is a joint effort between the CMP authors and CMP teachers. It was originally designed to be part of a CMP parent night. The games are taken or adapted from various units in grades 6, 7, and 8. Playing the games illustrates some of the mathematical understanding and reasoning that students develop during the year in the areas of number, geometry, and probability.

We have written rules and guidelines for each of the games as well as  suggestions for awarding points and prizes. Most schools allow one small table per game. Teachers and students take turns running the games.

It has become a tradition to offer the CMP Carnival during the Getting To Know CMP Workshop.
