Meeting the Needs of Special Populations While Using CMP
Meeting the Needs of Special Populations
A CMP Workshop
June 18 to 22, 2018
Michigan State University
This workshop is designed around sharing ideas and experiences to help us learn from each other. The workshop leaders will guide you through what it’s like to teach, experience, and learn in a CMP classroom. We encourage those who work with special populations to attend in teams.
Discussions will focus on how you can use the curriculum materials to:
Help Struggling Learners
Provide opportunities to help struggling learners in each lesson.
Attend to reading, vocabulary, and differentiation strategies with a focus on powerful mathematical lessons.
Multiple Entry Points
Employ a pedagogical model that provides multiple entry points for students to explore the problems.
Embed the Mathematical Practices to enhance student learning.
Enhance differentiation through CMP special features and resources designed to help you support differentiation while maintaining high expectations for all students.
Implement best practices for attending to the needs of all students.
