New Research Article Published on CMP and the Arc of Learning Framework – Limited Access until March 17
Release Date: February 4, 2019
The International Journal of Educational Research has published a new peer-reviewed research article, The Arc of Learning framework: An ergonomic resource for design and enactment of problem-based curriculum. The authors explore students’ development of deep, connected mathematical understanding through the lens of curriculum design and teacher enactment of problem-based curriculum materials. Specifically, the authors:
- Highlight ways that student learning can evolve from informal knowledge to more sophisticated reasoning over time;
- Describe the mathematical learning outcomes implicit in connected sequences of problem-solving tasks;
- Move task design and enactment analysis beyond stand-alone tasks; and
- Consider a task’s role for mathematics learning according to its location in an instructional sequence.
The article is available for viewing or downloading as PDF for free until the middle of March. Visit The Arc of Learning framework: An ergonomic resource for design and enactment of problem-based curriculum.
