End of Year Assessment

For an end-of-year assessment, some teachers create a one-or-two page outline with each Unit title and ask students to write down answers to questions such as “What are the big ideas that you think are the most important to remember?” for each Unit.

Other teachers use a group presentation for an end-of-year assessment. Students work in pairs or small groups to prepare and present the big ideas from one unit studied during the year. Teachers have added many variations. Some ideas include; students using poster paper or a device to present, students providing a one-page visual of the big ideas to everyone in the class that can be included portfolios for future reference, and students conducting a short question and answer session to the class.
