CMP on the Global Stage: Dr. AJ Edson at the AIET in STEM Forum in South Korea

AJ Edson - South Korea

CMP recently had a strong global presence at the AIET in STEM Forum in Jeju Island, where Dr. Alden Jack “AJ” Edson, author of Connected Mathematics Project (CMP4), joined international scholars, educators, and students to explore the future of AI in STEM education.

During a joint workshop with students and teachers from Jeju Science High School, Dr. Edson presented on the digital transformation of CMP, highlighting how AI can support, not replace, high-quality mathematics teaching. His session focused on how AI-enhanced platforms can:

  • Classify and respond to student mathematical strategies

  • Track student reasoning and growth over time

  • Support real-time teacher decision-making

  • Stay grounded in authentic classroom “problems of practice”

The forum brought together experts from South Korea, the U.S., Germany, Taiwan, and beyond, reinforcing CMP’s long-standing commitment to research-based, globally relevant mathematics education. Dr. Edson’s participation also highlighted CMP’s deep history of international collaboration — including decades of field testing and use in South Korea.

We’re proud to see CMP contributing to global conversations about AI, equity, and meaningful learning — and excited about what’s ahead.
