The 2026 Connected Mathematics4 Summer Institute brought educators from across the country to Michigan State University for three days of collaboration, problem solving, and professional learning, from exploring new CMP4 features to sharing classroom strategies and building lasting connections.

The CMP team presented at the 2026 Annual Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) in Portland. This session explored how strategic partnerships and targeted professional learning can strengthen teacher preparation in both rural and urban contexts.

CMP recently had a strong global presence at the AIET in STEM Forum on Jeju Island, South Korea, where Dr. Alden J. “AJ” Edson, an author of Connected Mathematics4, joined international scholars, educators, and students to explore the future of AI in STEM education.

The Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) team presented two sessions at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The CMP team will also present at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in Atlanta. This session will focus on the role of artificial intelligence in identifying and supporting students’ understanding of proportional reasoning.

The CMP team presented at the 2025 MCTM Conference, sharing new CMP4 problem types, classroom tools, and insights from hundreds of field-test teachers—all aimed at helping educators design math experiences that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.

A new book co-authored by longtime CMP contributor James Fey,who sadly passed away earlier this year, offers practical strategies and lesson examples for using cooperative small-group discovery to deepen student understanding, especially in algebra-focused classrooms.

Dr. Alden J. “AJ” Edson traveled to Norway to share how CMP’s curriculum has evolved over four editions and how new AI-powered tools are helping us support student thinking, personalize feedback, and prepare for the future of math education.
