Student Work from Growing, Growing, Growing, Problem 2.1
Killer Plant Strikes Lake Victoria
The examples of student work provide a glimpse into the ways that CMP students use to construct answers. In particular, the examples can help teachers anticipate how their own students may answer the question of when the lake’s surface will be covered by the water plants.
Students use various representations when trying to decide how the lake’s surface is being covered by plants in the Growing, Growing, Growing, Problem 2.1: Killer Plant Strikes Lake Victoria. Here we provide examples of student work produced by students in one CMP classroom. Students use exponential relationships represented in tables, graphs, equations, and words to reason about the question.
